My Oriental Medicine Witch Doctor

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

I woke up this morning with numbness in my hands. I immediately changed my body position so as to disperse and release any blockage that might’ve caused the uncomfortable hand sensation.

While consciously changing my body’s position, I envisioned my circulatory system made up of capillaries, veins, and arteries full of that gorgeous red and blue liquid that sustains us all, day in and day out, minute by minute, working on my behalf at 6:00 a.m. in the morning.

My body was communicating that it needed movement. It needed to detox. I then got up and spent 30 minutes flexing on the floor followed by jumping on the trampoline, and ended by using my hula-hoop as a jumping rope. My body appreciated it.

Years ago, however, instead of thinking how miraculously our body's systems perform in keeping us functioning so well through life, the first thing I would think upon waking up with numbness in my hands, or any other bodily discomfort, would've been:

“I have to call my doctor”.

“I have to set-up an appointment with my cardiologist”.

“I better schedule a physical.”

“Let me get up and take a Tylenol, Aleve, ibuprofen, or aspirin.”

But it’s been years since the way I approach my health and wellbeing has shifted from patient to advocate. From illness-bound, to wellness-driven. From vulnerable, to empowered. From being sick often, to daily self-care and prevention techniques.

This new pro-active role is due to a life-changing visit years ago with my “Oriental Medicine Witch Doctor” as I affectionately call this talented health practitioner who had a great impact in my life. It was through his oriental art of Chinese "acupuncture, herbs, concoctions and liquids”, that healing took place in my body after 35-years of awful-tasting medication and repeated ER visits. Meeting this lovely Chinese Medicine Man started my researching and investigating natural health, and the best discovery adventure ever - my body’s incomparable wisdom.

My body is now my classroom. It is my laboratory and I am the “lab rat”. My body surprises me daily. Every day I learn new ways it can heal itself. Day after day I wake up full of curiosity and hunger for more "body wisdom". I am enthralled each time I discover how different body systems work. This encounter with my “Oriental Medicine Witch Doctor” led to a personal health transformation and healing journey that excites me in such a way I want to shout it out to the world!

Today I want to challenge you to learn of your body’s intricate byways and pathways – the systems that keep you alive 24/7, 365 days for almost 100 years. Then use that body wisdom as your personal roadmap through this modern world full of toxic traps. Doing this will direct your health compass to the following positive experiences in life:

A better quality life – Longevity – More happiness – Incredible energy – Feeling younger – Looking younger – Wanting to be of service to others – Working at something you love - Becoming vessels of positive energy - and finally, Becoming a living, breathing example to family and close friends.

All of the above spell out A B S O L U T E L Y H E A L T H Y L I V I N G.
