The Blind Food Auditions

My intention in becoming a Functional Nutrition Counselor (FNC) and a Functional Nutrition Lifestyle Practitioner (FNLP) is to educate local communities on how they can make healthier choices and change their life habits to improve their quality of life.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, I will be presenting, The Blind Food Auditions, a one of a kind program I created where I teach that taking care of yourself is a journey, and that you can make that journey fun and rewarding. I am excited the New Britain Public Library invited me to speak about the things I love - Nutrition, Wellbeing, Prevention, and Self-care but from a Functional lens instead of the traditional lens many approach nutrition.

This is your personal invitation to come join us if you are free and want to drive 30 to 40 minutes down route 8 South on a beautiful autumn afternoon.

What is Functional Nutrition?

Before talking about Functional Nutrition, I'd like to quote something about Functional Medicine first.

"Functional medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of a disease.

A functional medicine doctor uses the functional medicine model. The functional medicine model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.

By addressing the root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of disease. They may find one condition has many different causes and one cause may result in many different conditions."

- The Institute for Functional Medicine

Functional Nutrition follows the Functional Medicine model, that I've just quoted, and the same science-based path. Using strategies, systems, and frameworks, that will bring them closer to the the roots of the problem (because there is never just one root) they carefully study, review, and analyze all the data, and come up with recommendations that will bring lasting results to their clients and patients. Yes, that is YOU.

It is my hope that working alongside doctors in functional medicine, and with functional medicine nutritionists like Andrea Nakayama and her team, I can continue learning how to uncover the "Why" of the many chronic conditions and symptoms that secretly disrupt the lives of many, and provide my clients the information they need to become healthy in a holistic way - yes, in a Functional way.
